ABSTRACT
This research is about study analysis of aluminum foil usage as filter on X-ray plane. The use of filters aims to eliminate low energy in x-ray beams, so it can minimize the dose. This research was conducted to determine the value of dose and Half Value Layer (HVL) on filter Poly (Methyl Methacrylate) (PMMA) and aluminum foil with the variation of tube voltage 66, 70, 33, and 77 kVp used time current 20 mAs, 100 cm SSD, and 10 cm x 10 cm field irradiation area. Measurements were made with Piranha's Multi Purpose Detector (MPD) which is a universal semiconductor detector for the measurement of the X-ray system. The results showed that the consistency of the X-ray tube voltage had errors that were within tolerable limits (± 10%). The influence of PMMA and aluminum foil filters causes the absorbent dose value to decrease with increasing thickness. The use of PMMA filters to flank the aluminum foil causes the measured absorbable dose value to be smaller. From the study the average measured dose reduction due to the use of 4 mm thick PMMA was 0.024 mGy. HVL measurement values using interpolation methods yield smaller values than graphical methods. With interpolation method generated HVL 4.1 mmAl up to 4.6 mmAl, while with graphic method yielded HVL with thickness 4,58 mmAl to 5,13 mmAl. The results also show that the greater the voltage of the X-ray tube, the thickness of the paro of aluminum foil tends to increase.
